Notifications
TrainGrid keeps you ahead of deadlines with reminders about overdue training, upcoming due dates, expiring certificates, and competency reassessments falling due. These appear in two places, and you control whether they also reach your inbox.
The bell
The bell icon in the top bar is your quick view. A red badge shows how many unread notifications you have (or "99+" for a lot). Select it to open a dropdown with your five most recent notifications; unread ones are shown in bold with a dot. Selecting a notification takes you straight to the relevant screen — an overdue or due-soon alert opens your incomplete assignments, an expiring-certificate alert opens the Expiring Certificates report, a competency reassessment alert opens the Competency Status report on its Reassessment scheduled view, and a weekly summary opens the dashboard. Select View all notifications at the bottom to open the full page.
The Notifications page
Open Notifications for your complete history. Each item shows an icon and label for its type — Due soon, Overdue, Certificate expiring, Certificate expired, Training assigned, Competency reassessment, Roster status, Weekly summary, or System — along with its subject, details, and how long ago it arrived. Unread items are highlighted with a colored edge and a dot; longer messages can be expanded with Show more. Select an item's subject to jump to the screen it's about.
Marking items read
- Notifications on the page mark themselves as read automatically once you've viewed them — you don't have to do anything.
- To clear everything at once, select Mark all read at the top of the page.
- Older notifications are paged; use Previous and Next to move through them.
Email reminders (your personal on/off switch)
At the top of the Notifications page is the Email me training reminders card with a toggle. This is self-service — it affects only you, so every member decides for themselves, and no administrator is needed.
- Turn the switch off to stop the matching reminder emails.
- Turn it on to receive them again.
Tip: Turning email off doesn't hide anything — your in-app notifications always appear in the bell and on the Notifications page. You're only choosing whether the same reminders also land in your inbox.
