This comparison is published by Solvesoft Corp., the company behind TrainGrid.
- Start with the records and instruction your team needs.
- Compare the same workflow in each shortlisted product.
- Treat published pages as evidence for the cited claims, not as a hands-on test.
Choose the record you need to manage
List the questions the system needs to answer: what training was completed, how a skill was demonstrated, which certificates need review and what instruction the work requires. Use those questions to choose a workflow for evaluation. Do not assume that a product covers only one category because of the label on its homepage.
A matrix is a useful place to begin an evaluation, but follow its entries to the underlying evidence. Ask what each status means and which event changes it. Keep the answer with your evaluation notes so the same question can be asked of every shortlisted product.
Five options and their published focus
The order is alphabetical. The table describes published material checked on November 2, 2026; it does not rank the products or report hands-on testing.

Check the workflow in each shortlisted product
Use the training records software buyer checklist to examine the underlying record.
- Can you retrieve the original evidence behind a completion?
- How is practical assessment distinguished from attendance?
- What happens to completed evidence after a course or procedure version changes?
- Which event and settings determine a renewal date?
- Who may view, record, change or assess the information?
- Which employee and location limits apply to the plan being evaluated?
- What does the published import scope include, and what must be entered separately?
- Which required records and supporting files can you export?
Ask for the workflow to be demonstrated with an evaluation record and inspect the result. Mark an unanswered question as unresolved rather than treating a blank comparison cell as proof that a feature is absent. Confirm the plan and conditions attached to each answer.
When another product category fits
If instruction and digital work instructions are central to the requirement, review Poka's published instructional material. For skills matrices, verified skills and role requirements, review AG5's platform material and Skills Base's published scope. These are starting points for evaluation, not claims that the products lack records, reminders or assessments.
TrainGrid's scope and limits
TrainGrid records six competency outcomes: Competent, Competent with conditions, Needs improvement, Not competent, Not assessed and Exempt.
TrainGrid supports course versions and retraining assignments while keeping completed evidence tied to the version used.
Employees and courses import by CSV; training history not imported. Set Repeat every (days) and Valid for (days) on the course before recording past training with its original completion date, or keep the old register as the historical record.
Multiple locations are available on TrainGrid Enterprise; Starter and Professional each cover one location.
